Pretty Pastels
HOME DESIGN DOES HAVE ITS SOFTER SIDE, with a palette that seems to continually favor soothing Spa inspired hues. Pale blue is the color of choice, especially for bedrooms, where it’s tempered with plush fabrics and the ubiquitous white, which lends well to a nautical theme.

Care-free Color
WHILE WATERCOLOR HUED INTERIORS are nice, so is a splash of color. Jenny Carter of K2 Design Group lets the art do the talking—as in adding oomph to the bar area in this condo.

Heavy Metals
BRUSHED AND POLISH METALLICS GO WELL WITH the contemporary design sensibility. The powder bathroom of Harbourside Custom Homes’ Astoria II, a model in Grand Arbors at TwinEagles, gets its shine on with patterned metallic wallcovering and antiqued silver-hued cabinetry.

Extemporary Contemporary
AS WITH ANY TREND, IT TAKES JUST ONE well-done interior to jump-start a design movement. We applaud the designer who took a chance by revisiting the simple, clean lines of contemporary a few years back. Now many are jumping on the bandwagon, and rightfully so—the look lends a cool, sophisticated vibe that’s perfect for our neck of the woods.
