Kitchens to Crave WHY BOTHER MAKING DINNER RESERVATIONS These kitchens have everything you’ll ever need to make a five course dinner, pop a bag of microwaveable popcorn or let someone else prepare the feast.
Integrated Environments BUILT INS HAVE GONE INTO HIDING, appearing in recessed wall niches instead of sticking out. It’s a trend that works with the less-is-more attitude of today’s interiors, freeing up wall space for a wall mounted flat-screen TV as opposed to a wall full of cabinetry. The family room of Southern Bay Homes’ Valencia II in Grand Arbors at TwinEagles replaces a bulky entertainment center with low-built cabinetry and shelves built into a trio of arched niches (top). The family room of the Royal Floridian (right), built by Kingon Homes and featuring interior design by Southern Showcase, follows the same trend, opting for art over entertainment (a plasma TV hides in the cabinetry when not in use).
a Study in Hiding THE TRADITIONAL WALL OF BUILT-INS is also disappearing in the study, where bookshelves and filing cabinets are now hidden behind closed doors. Designer Gary Neithamer of Gary David Design oriented a peninsula desk to views of Estero Bay, Bonita Beach and the Gulf and hid all else behind woven panel doors in the den of Residence 1403 in Azure at Bonita Bay.
a Sense of Place WHETHER IT’S A FEELING OF Old Florida or the authentic ambience of a Mediterranean village, some architecture and interiors are so specific to a region they create a pinch-me-I’ve-been here- before moment.
